Presentation on CranioSacral Therapy
Drs Tom and Laura Gross @ Mills River Family Chiropractic
/ ABC Learning LAB
You are cordially invited to attend a free presentation
on Craniosacral Therapy. In the last Issue I shared how the body seems
to have an analog to Heaven’s river of life.I mentioned a form
of therapy that is directed to improve and help correct abnormalities
in the flow of this river.A body fluid called cerebrospinal fluid CSF
is moved deep in the brain and around the spinal cord in a river like
current by a “craniosacral pump” which has more recently
been called the Primary Respiratory Mechanism.I mentioned how strangely
comforting it is to assist this river of CSF and how this is thought,
by some, to be why babies and the elderly love to rock in a rocking
chair.
It is interesting to read references in the medical
literature to the importance of CSF in providing assistance in temperature
regulation, nutrition, detoxification and immune defense for the brain
and spinal cord.In Ezek 47:8-12 we read how the water from the river
of life “…will heal the salty waters and make them fresh
and pure.Everything touching the water of this river shall live…But
the marshes and swamps will not be healed; they will still be salty. All
kinds of fruit trees will grow along the riverbanks. The leaves will
never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit. There will
be a new crop every month-without fail!Fore they are watered by the
river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves
for medicine.”TLB
With little doubt the reference is directly concerning
God’s Holy Spirit.I am constantly amazed, however, that God’s
creation reflects His nature and heavenly economy in so many ways.It
is contended in the major traditions of cranial work in Chiropractic
and Osteopathic medicine that impaired motion or alignment of the vertebrae
and cranial bones or area’s of inflammation can create regions
where the CSF doesn’t flow properly, possibly even creating small
eddy currents impairing the delivery of fresh nutrients, temperature
regulation and removal of waste, thus allowing the accumulation of metabolic
waste in the immediate vicinity, which is potentially toxic. This reminds
me of the marshes and swamps that will still be salty.
CranioSacral therapy (CST) represents one of the two
major traditions effecting health through cranial therapy. CST is a
light touch technique which addresses health through gentle intervention
into the cranial and meningeal system.Using light touch, generally the
weight of a nickel, the CranioSacral Therapist tunes into the subtle
rhythm which can be measured some say even to the point of conception. This
rhythm is continued through life in the pulsing fluid that bathes the
brain and spinal cord sealed within the meninges. The therapist then
uses delicate manual techniques to release problem areas and relieve
undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.A CranioSacral Therapy session
typically runs 45 minutes to more than and hour. The patient remains
fully clothed and simply rests.During the session the patient may have
gentle body movements, memories or emotional releases as the brain unravels
it’s long history of insults and injuries, sometimes going back
to the birth experience where the cranium is compressed under great
pressure.
CranioSacral Therapy has been credited with providing
relief in a wide range of maladies including migraines and headaches,
chronic neck and back pain, motor coordination impairments, stress and
tension related problems, infantile disorders, chronic fatigue, scoliosis,
CNS disorders, emotional difficulties, jaw (TMJ) dysfunction, Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder, orthopedic problems as well as many other conditions. This
may seem like an astonishing list of successes, but if you consider
that, just like Chiropractic, it benefits the brain and it’s environment,
it is easy to understand how this therapy can be so effective.
Mills River Family Chiropractic is blessed to provide
CranioSacral Therapy.Patrick McGuire, LMBT is a gifted massage therapist
with 17 years experience has specialized training in CranioSacral Therapy. He
has worked with neo-nates and senior citizens and seen a wide range
or remarkable improvements.Patrick will be providing a FREE INFORMATIVE
DISCUSSION AND PRESENTATION where he will briefly outline the origins,
methods and process of CranioSacral Therapy and give a brief demonstration
of what a session is like and talk about it’s benefits and track
record in healing.
