Visagraph
/ Reading Plus
The Visagraph is an instrument which allows a binocular
assessment of reading proficiency. The assessment quickly and easily
identifies problems in conjugate eye movement as well as detecting an
amazingly wide variety of potential processing deficits. It can do this
because the program tracks eye movements during a reading task which
involves reading a passage which is programmed into the computer.

The computer knows exactly what word you are on, whether you
have skipped or re-read a word or series of words. The doctor
can also detect whether your eye movements depict fatigue or
some other dysfunctional neurological process.

The remarkably useful aspect of the assessment is that
it suggests and provides a state of the art reading fluency training
strategy which is tailored to the individual. Dr. Gross can train using
the Reading Plus program in the office and has spaces which can be leased
to the patient for a period of time allowing access to the Reading Plus
training from a computer at home with internet access. This allows the
patient to have flexibility and receive customized and highly effective
tutoring in the convenience of their own home at times that best fit
their family routine.
Reading Plus instructional programs
are comprised of three integrated components that develop essential skills
for reading proficiency.
The following table provides
an overview of all the Reading Plus® instructional programs.
Dr. Gross has access through the program to
numerous progress reports and trend statistics to document
utilization and improvement whether the patient receives their
training in the office or over the internet.
Insufficient reading fluency is at the foundation
of many scholastic problems and the Visagraph and Reading Plus
represent a dynamic duo which is more flexible and at least
as effective if not more effective than traditional reading
clinics that are not computerized.Again, a major strength of
this program is it’s flexibility in lending itself to
either a clinic or home based intervention or both.
